Dr. Jay L. Schwartz is arguably the most prolific refractive surgeon in the valley. Dr. Jay L. Schwartz is the team ophthalmologist for the Phoenix Suns, Arizona Diamondbacks, world champion Phoenix Mercury and the team LASIK ophthalmologist for the Phoenix Coyotes. The Schwartz Laser Eye Center is also the official LASIK center of the Suns, Coyotes, and Diamondbacks making it easy to see why Schwartz Laser Eye Center is synonymous with professionalism. In fact, Schwartz Laser Center’s doctors spend every spring assisting numerous professional baseball teams preparing for the upcoming year. Dr. Schwartz's practice specializes in LASIK. He has traveled throughout the United States and Europe training other surgeons on the LASIK procedure. These locations include: Albuquerque, Chicago, Columbus, Ohio, Colorado Springs, Dallas, Denver, Nashville, Honolulu, Houston, Minneapolis, Midvale, Utah, Orem, Utah, Miami, Orlando, Quincy, Illinois, San Antonio, San Diego, Seattle, Tallahassee, Tampa and Florence, Italy. Dr. Schwartz has also trained several other surgeons from around the world at our clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Dr. Schwartz graduated from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. He finished his Ophthalmology Residency at Midwestern University in Chicago, Illinois in 1997. He received fellowship training from Charles Casebeer, M.D. He has been a principle investigator in an Investigative Device Exemption (IDE) study on the Nidek laser, from which data was submitted to the FDA.
Dr. Schwartz is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and licensed to practice medicine in Arizona, Colorado and Illinois. Dr. Schwartz moved to Arizona in 1997. He currently lives in Scottsdale, with his wife Brenda and daughter Madelyn and son Maxwell.

Dr. Kaplan is our newest physician, joining Dr. Schwartz in July 2008. Dr. Kaplan specializes in Cataract surgery, Functional Eyelid surgeries, and Pterygium surgery, as well as the treatment of medical conditions of the eye, including diabetes.
Dr. Kaplan attended Washington University in St. Louis, Mo. for college, graduating with honors in 1990. From 1990-94 he taught elementary school in the Chicago Public Schools. The skills he learned as a teacher are appreciated by Dr. Kaplan's patients, who find him engaging, warm, and trusting. Dr. Kaplan takes the time to ensure that his patients understand their eye problems and the options available to them to ensure the best outcomes for their eyes.
Dr. Kaplan graduated from the University of Chicago School of Medicine in 1998. He then came to the Valley for his Internship year of training at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, and then returned to the University of Chicago for Ophthalmology training. Upon completion of Residency training in 2002, Dr. Kaplan received the "Most Outstanding Resident" award by the Department of Ophthalmology.
Since 2002, Dr, Kaplan has had a successful Ophthalmology practice in the Chicagoland area, helping thousands of patients to see better with either medical or surgical care.
Dr. Kaplan is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.
Dr. Kaplan is excited to be living in Scottsdale with his wife, Traci, and their daughter, Ariel.
Dr. Donausky has been in practice with Dr. Schwartz since 2003. He serves as the Director of Optometric and Refractive Services, and together they have helped thousands of LASIK patients gain freedom from eyeglasses and contact lenses.
Dr. Donausky attended and graduated from the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana where he not only excelled academically but also played for the U of I Lacrosse Team. He received his doctorate from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, one of the largest and most prestigious optometry schools in the country. He moved from his hometown of Chicago to Scottsdale, Arizona in 2003 mainly because of the weather and what the valley of the sun has to offer recreationally.
Dr. Donausky finds great pleasure in helping patients discover how refractive surgeries can offer a new sense of freedom to their lives. From athletics to scuba diving, from mountain biking to simply going to a movie, his patients no longer have to deal with appliances like glasses or contacts to enjoy their lives to the fullest. And now with the advent of CK®, his patients no longer have to carry around reading glasses to see something as mundane as a menu at a restaurant or price tags when shopping.
Dr. Donausky is licensed by the Arizona State Board of Optometry and certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry. He is also TPA and DPA certified.

Dr. Marc R. Bloomenstein is a 1990 graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles with a degree in Biology. He received his optometric degree from the New England College of Optometry in 1994. After graduation, Dr. Bloomenstein finished a residency in secondary ophthalmic care at the Barnet Dulaney Eye Center in Phoenix, Arizona. He received his fellowship from the American Academy of Optometry in December, 1998 and is a founding member of the Optometric Council on Refractive Technology. Moreover, Dr. Bloomenstein is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Southern California College of Optometry and New England College of Optometry.
Currently, Dr. Bloomenstein is at the Schwartz Laser Eye Center. Aside from lecturing and publishing on numerous anterior segment and refractive topics, Dr. Bloomenstein is on the editorial board of Primary Care of Optometry and Contemporary Optometry. Dr. Bloomenstein served as the President of the Arizona Optometric Association, as well as an Optometric Advisor to STAAR Surgical and Medtronics Solan. Dr. Bloomenstein is the President of the Board of the Arizona Optometric Charitable Foundation. Dr. Bloomenstein does not have any financial interest in products discussed in his lectures.
